How Secure is the Service?
All our 800 numbers are routed to trunk groups that allow ANI Blocking or ANI Screening. By default, all service is set up as ANI Blocking, meaning a customer may cut over their PBX traffic to the assigned 800 number and all ANI’s are allowed through. Should we recognize an ANI that does not belong to the customer, we block it. Blocking can take place within 15 minutes, and customers are never charged for calls from ANI’s that do not belong to them.
ANI Screening is more commonly used by customers with non-programmable PBX systems or key systems. With this feature, the customer provides us with a list of all valid ANI’s that are to be allowed through to the service. Only calls from these ANI’s will be allowed to access the service. This allows the customer to deploy the service through programmable speed dial numbers or by giving the 800 number directly to the employee. Keep in mind, with this service it is important to implement an administrative step that alerts us to any new or deleted ANI’s of a customer.
